POSITION SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES: The Director SPP will be responsible for providing global leadership to develop and implement a Strategic Production Planning process that collaboratively engages with business units to identify, evaluate and communicate strategic technical opportunities to increase value from known and anticipated coal resources. The role will work closely with Group Executives Operational Support and VPs of Engineering, Studies and Project Development. This role contributes to the enhancement of Peabody Energy?s enterprise value through delivery of improved outcomes from strategic planning of existing operations and new projects.?The role can be located in St. Louis or Brisbane, AU. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop and maintain an effective SPP process that is highly valued by executive management as a source of competitive advantage.? Lead the successful initiation, scoping and execution of SPP engagements with business units.? Build and maintain a core SPP team with advanced technical planning and financial evaluation capability.? Ensure the effective evaluation, selection and development of advanced software tools to support the SPP process.? Coordinate regular communications between Engineering Services, Business Units and key executives to review status, outcomes and priorities of SPP initiatives .? Develop annual plans and budgets for on-going implementation and enhancement of the SPP process as required.? Prepare regular progress reports to keep senior management informed of department activities as required. QUALIFICATIONS: A BS degree in mining or civil engineering or a closely related degree is required. An advanced business degree is strongly preferred.? 10 years combined business planning and evaluation experience in corporate and mining operations is required.? Experience and success in effectively leading small and large multi-disciplinary teams globally is required.? Experience supporting the evaluation and due diligence process for potential merger and acquisition opportunities is required.? Significant experience as a senior level member of a management team is required.? A demonstrated ability to digest, analyze and communicate complex concepts and strategies is required.? Deep technical expertise in mine engineering and financial evaluation fundamentals and best practices, including advances in technology, methodology, and tools is required.? Previous experience working in multiple countries and demonstrated understanding of a variety of cultures is preferred.? Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement is required.? Willing to travel extensively both in the US and abroad.
